Fungal Infections
Fungal infections of the foot (tinea pedis) or Athlete’s foot causes itching, flaking and scaling of the skin, which may occasionally become swollen and painful. It is commonly transmitted in moist communal areas such as public showers or swimming pools. Fungal infections may also infect the nails, and the incidence of this increases as you get older, due to reduced rate of nail growth.
Correct diagnosis is essential for the successful treatment of this condition, and is thus important to seek the professional help of a Podiatrist. At Wanneroo Podiatry Surgery we have many years of diagnostic skills to treat this irritating condition and prevent its recurrence.
